Hi,
We've just moved into a flat with a communal dish and as a housewarming present we got SKY+ installed. I was informed When I called to book the installation that we'd only get limited functionality from the box so I started searching around for a solution (All I'm looking for is the ability to set an unattended timer without dummy recordings) and came across the SPS1. After reading DigitalSpy forums and giving it some thought I purchased the Sadoun S-SM21V from yourselves. I ordered the unit with the SCART plug and lead and this is where the problem lies...
I connected the wire from the 5/12v on the SM21V to pin 8 on the SCART block, plugged the SCART into the TV socket on the SKY+ and turned the box on. I was greeted with a nasty buzzing noise and the blue "no signal" screen on the TV, so I pulled the SCART out and the picture came back. I'm at a loss as to what I may have done wrong and any help would be greatly appreciated (before I accidentally blow the box to bits or something).
Thanks in advance,
Vince. |

The switch must also be connected to the LNB and LNB inputs of your Sky+ Digibox.
You don't say where the buzzing noise came from.
My guess would be that your particular make/model Digibox (which the forum rules tell you MUST be stated) is unable to provide enough current to operate the switch. Unfortunately, all we can offer you is a refund.
For our reference, what is the make and model number on the label underneath your Digibox and what is your order number?
Another possibility is that one of your leads is short-circuit.

The switch is connected to both LNB inputs on the digibox and to the plate on the wall. I'm not entirely sure where the buzzing is coming from but if I were to hazard a guess I'd say it's from the back of the digibox. My apologies for not stating the model of digibox, it's a little hard to remove from the unit it's in, I've got a Pace TDS470N.
The switch actually acts as a splitter at the moment so at least I can record one channel and watch another on the same frequency, it's just not allowing me to use timer recording unattended. My order number was *******054. |

OK, so none of the cables is short-circuit.
I'd like to know whether anyone else with the same model is having a problem (I've changed the subject line). We could design a simple electronic add-on to boost the current if necessary. But it all adds to the cost and complexity.
I'll add the question to our next newsletter. |

I've had another "buzzing" report so my suspicion is that some receivers can't provide enough power for the switch.
I'm designing a current amplifier to fix this.

I would like to hear from anyone who is using our "Sadoun" LNB switch successfully instead of the SPS1. (Please state make and model number of Digibox). We seem to have a problem with the Thomson DSI8215 as well.
I'm really sorry about this. We've sold quite a few so I'm wondering if most are working or people are too shy to admit there's a problem! |

Just wondering if there have been any developments to this?
Cheers, Vince. |

Thought I'd ticked that box When I ordered, Oops!
Thankfully it looks like I was just in time to order an SPS1. In terms of returning the Sadoun unit are there any procedures I need to follow? I can only assume since I ordered the Sadoun with the SCART plug and wire that i'll need to return those too? (I only ask since I'm unsure as to the location of the extra pins for the SCART block, my partner has been tidying up again hehe)
Thanks again,
Vince. |

| The SPS1 is sold out but we have found another supplier and expect to have stock by October 1st 2008. |

| Just an update on this old discussion. Unfortunately, we never did find a satisfactory SPS1 alternative. |
