Hi, I want to buy some Freeview antenna equipment (from you guys at SatCure), but I just have a few questions before I place an order.

Basically, I don't want to do too much investigation into this (I don't have the time), so I'll just go with whatever you guys tell me.

However, I also don't have a huge amount to spend, so I'm looking for the best value/performance setup you can recommend.

I live in a first floor flat in a victorian building so it is quite tall, at the very least 15M high.

Click here for the results I got from putting in my postcode to the 'Wolfbane UK Digital TV reception predictor'

I want to feed a signal to my TV, which can take a Freeview signal. Also I intend to get PlayTV, which will also require a connection.

As PlayTV will be able to accept HD sources, it is important that the aerial I get accept HD (when it becomes available on Freeview).

Both the TV and PS3 are close to each other in proximity.

Can you please tell me what gear I need to get going?

Many thanks for reading, I await your advice![/url]

I recommend a V10-040 log-periodic:

Position it so it has a clear view of the transmitter, either outside or through a plain glass window, at a bearing of 124 degrees.

Test it with a direct connection using a short length WF100 or WC100 cable:

(At this point, it hasn't cost you much and you can return it for a refund if it doesn't work.)

If you need to split the signal, try a "A73203 2-way splitter F-conn":
http://www.SatCure.co.uk/accs/page15a.htm#ysplit

If the signal is marginal (too weak to split) or if you need a long cable run (more than 10m) then a low-noise adjustable-gain masthead amplifier will do the job:

The reason for my aerial choice is that Waltham transmitter requires a wideband aerial but a Yagi wideband has low gain at channel 23. A Log-periodic also has low gain but it's consistent across the UHF band, picks up less unwanted signal, and can be amplified with negligible detriment to the signal quality. It is also effectively "futureproof".

BTW I've never heard of "PLayTV" so my response doesn't include that.

PlayTV is a TV tuner add-on for PlayStation 3 allowing the PS3 to act as a PVR. Release date is I believe 18th September

Cannot work on the house or garden at the moment as until three minutes ago it was chucking hailstones the size of golf balls down

OK, if the tuner has an aerial loop-through you may not need a splitter.
